The BMFcast Variety Hour 015 – Rae Dawn Mom

Commando (1985) was our homework assignment for this week. Is it the most BMFcast-y movie ever? Come find out. Afterwards we have things to say about the following properties: Happy Death Day, The Road Warrior, Mad Max Fury Road, Sound & Fury, Jerry Maguire and The Last Samurai. Along the way we have thoughts on Apple TV, Letterboxd, Netflix DVD rentals and the career path of Thandie Newton. Have fun!

BMFcast Extra 155 – Ablaze

Ablaze (2001) is what you get when director Jim Wynorski acquires all the action footage from last week’s movie City on Fire (along with a bit from Striking Distance) and then remakes City on Fire. The cast is silly, the new “story” is really silly, and it’s… better than the source material?

The BMFcast Variety Hour 014 – An Ernest Apology

The Old Guard (2020) is our remote learning homework assignment this week. After that we’ve got things to say about Warrior Nun, Maniac, Floor is Lava, The Great Gatsby, Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Ace Ventura and American Hero. Plus our usual brand of asides and references. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 154 – City on Fire

City on Fire (1979) comes at the tail end of the 70’s disaster craze and it shows. Despite a couple of minutes total of “Grant Page Presents stunt spectacular”, this is a pretty dull tale of an entire city being on fire. How can that possibly be so dull? Tune in.

The BMFcast Variety Hour 013 – Time Loops

Palm Springs (2020) ended up being the movie watched the most in the last week, especially in Maki’s case. He seems to like it, and it also inspired him to watch Groundhog Day for the very first time. Congrats!

Other entertainment of interest this week includes thoughts on the new Peacock streaming app, Back in Time (2015), Netflix’s Floor is Lava, Cop Land (1997), Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), Pretty in Pink (1986) and also an appearance from the Hamilton Defense Force. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 153 – Men in Black International

Men in Black: International (2019) was 2019’s “How DARE you, Hollywood?!” critical dog pile where everyone tried to outdo each other to come up with a way to explain how offensive this film was to humanity and that nothing worse has ever been produced. As per usual, that’s all nonsense. This movie is totally fine.

The BMFcast Variety Hour 012 – The Baby’s Name is Cody

Hamilton (2020) is the movie of the week that’s hotly debated during this episode. Is it Alexander Hamilfun or Aaron Booo-rr? Afterwards, Harlo takes a trip through his iTunes movie library with the later era Fast and Furious movies, Kong: Skull Island, Airplane, Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2 and Top Gun, while Maki and fam revisit Kingsman: The Secret Service. Then, your emails and voicemails. WEAR A MASK!

The BMFcast Variety Hour 011 – The Tony Danza of Actors

Eurovision Song Contest (2020) is the movie some of us watched for homework this week. Is the latest Will Ferrell manchild movie any good? From there Chuck has some thoughts about a previous Ferrell film Semi-Pro, BJ checks in with his homework from a couple weeks ago and talks In Search of the Last Action Heroes and The Bourne Identity, Maki has words for Uncut Gems, and then Harlo’s discussion of Community brings up the latest trend of streaming services jumping the gun and pulling movies and TV shows for “controversial content”. We have thoughts. Marmaduke!
