BMFcast353 – The Return of Captain Invincible – Raiders of the Lost Arkin

The Return of Captain Invincible (1983) is our return to musicals and boy, this one sure is a thing. It has Alan Arkin, Christopher Lee, songs by Richard O’Brien and a whole slew of head-scratching moments.

In the second half we talk Star Trek Beyond, Independence Day 2, The Flintstones and listen to your voicemails. Enjoy!

BMFcast352 – The Lost Empire – Laservoir Tip

The Lost Empire (1985) is the debut movie of Jim Wynorski. A team of martial arts knowin’ women enter an underground tournament on a secret island in order to locate a jewel that will be used to power a doomsday device. Or something? We expected lots of jokes and nudity, which we got. Was it enough?

Second half is a random grab bag of movies with The Accountant (2016), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1994). Harlo also discusses the documentary Lucha Mexico (2016) before we take some listener e-mails. Enjoy!

BMFcast350 – Ghosts of Mars – Ghosts of Gwars

bmf-ep350-slider

Ghosts of Mars (2001) has been requested so often that episode 350 felt like the proper time to review it. Ice Cube, Natasha Henstridge, Pam Grier and Jason Statham must battle Mars-infected zombies, trust issues, and really, really bad editing. Can we (and John Carpenter) survive this one?

After the break we talk a little more about Sausage Party (2016) and take some listener correspondence. Enjoy!

BMFcast349 – American Rampage – American Sampage

bmf-ep349-slider

American Rampage (1989) is very American, but doesn’t have quite as much Rampaging as we hoped. A pair of cops are on the trail of drug smugglers or something? But there are plenty of random explosions, character deaths, and random nudity which gets our attention. Is it enough?

In the second half Harlo gives his take on Doctor Strange (2016) and we take on some listener mails and recommendations. Enjoy!

BMFcast348 – Eliminators – Fruity Cavemen?

bmf-ep348-slider

Eliminators (1986) returns us to the fun lunacy of Charles Band’s Empire Pictures productions. When you have a mandroid, a scientist, a mercenary pirate, a ninja, and a robot sidekick joining forces to take on a time-traveling villain then you’ve got a recipe for success, my friend. Did we mention they fight cavemen, too? This movie’s got it all.

Second half we really load up on movies with discussion of a bunch of 2016 releases (Ghostbusters, London Has Fallen, Mascots, The Neon Demon), then go back in time with some older horror with An American Werewolf In London (1981) and the Scream series. Enjoy!

BMFcast347 – Blood Debts – Dubbedebts

bmf-ep347-slider

Blood Debts (1985) concludes Bloodtober as Richard Harrison (the man with the Garfield Phone!) returns to take revenge on criminals of the world in this Death Wish knockoff. But when he gets blackmailed into becoming a vigilante hitman, that’s when things really go crazy. Trust us, watch this one.

After the break Harlo talks about Kevin Hart and The Rock’s Central Intelligence (2016) before we take some e-mails and go on tangents about high school trigonometry (or something.) Enjoy!

BMFcast346 – Blood Warriors – Blood Bore-iors

bmf-ep346-slider

Blood Warriors (1993) continues Bloodtober with the return of decorated BMFcast alums Sam Firstenberg and David Bradley! Wes is a con who gets bailed out by his old marine buddy Keith from Jakarta. After Keith’s death, Wes must battle a drug cartel, all while fending off advances from Karen, Keith’s sister. From there it takes some odd turns. It’s a random one, for sure.

Second half Maki talks about The Thing (2011) before we get into a new batch of listener correspondence. Enjoy!

BMFcast345 – Bloodfist – Nobody Wants Baby In Their Corner

bmf-ep345-slider

Bloodfist (1989) begins Bloodtober, after a weeklong Hurricane Matthew related delay. Don “The Dragon” Wilson makes his BMFcast debut, searching for his brother’s murderer with a little help from a guy named Baby, a fight against Billy Blanks and one really messed up mango.

After the break we discuss the incredibly influential original Westworld, The Conjuring series, found footage movies, the genius of John Carpenter’s The Thing, Netflix’s Luke Cage, and even find time for listener e-mails. Enjoy!

BMFcast344 – Solarbabies – Pole-r Skate

bmf-ep344-slider

Solarbabies (1986) concludes Skatember with another vision of the future. Jamie Gertz, Jason Patric and other kids are pressed into service of the E-Police (read: Nazis) after water leaves the earth. Also, they rollerskate and everyone is chasing a magic glowing ball. It’s way better than that makes it sound, trust us.

Second half we talk about Final Girl (2015) before diving into listener e-mails and fashion through the years(!?). It’s an odd half. Enjoy!

BMFcast343 – Gleaming The Cube – Holiday Inn Cambodia

bmf-ep343-slider

Gleaming The Cube (1989) has Skatember rolling on as Christian Slater searches for his adopted brother’s killer with the help of Stephen Bauer and lots of skateboarding friends. Will he crack the case or crack his trucks instead? Maybe both!

Second half we get Maki’s take on Straight Outta Compton (2015), Harlo wonders about The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) and issues everyone a challenge regarding Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups (2015). Enjoy!
