BMFcast311 – Please Hammer, Hurt Them

BMF-Ep311-slider

Hammer (1972) continues Blaxploitation History Month with a Fred Williamson classic. He’s a boxer who wants to keep his head down and his nose clean but the entire world wants to tell him he’s terrible. William Smith is along to keep the evil racist quotient as high as possible.

Second half BJ talks Danger 5, Maki reminds us that Unmasking The Idol is awesome, and Harlo visits his vampire side with The Hunger and Near Dark. Then we close out with a new batch of listener e-mails and voicemails. Enjoy!

BMFcast310 – Dollemite

BMF-Ep310-slider

The Human Tornado (1976) begins this year’s Blaxploitation History Month! Rudy Ray Moore returns in the sequel to Dolemite. With a cast of just-as-crazy characters, does this sequel measure up?

After the break BJ gives us his thoughts on Ex Machina and we take a ton of listener correspondence!

We also have a special announcement. We’ve finally launched our Patreon! Plenty of goals have already been met, including a bonus podcast just for contributors. You can find all the information right here. Thanks, and enjoy!

BMFcast263 – Coke Watch 2015

Willie Dynamite (1974) wraps up Blaxploitation History Month 2015 (a week late, but still). Gordon from Sesame Street is the world’s most charismatic pimp with the world’s coolest wardrobe and the world’s coolest car. So of course everyone in New York City wants to take him down.

Second half we catch up with talk of Big Hero 6, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, Spoils of Babylon, Speed, and Chuck catches up on a BMFcast classic, Arena! Enjoy!

BMFcast262 – Secret Asiant Lady

GUNFACE

Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold (1975) continues Blaxploitation History Month. Tamara Dobson and the Karate Brothers return for this bigger, crazier, Hong Kong-ier sequel. Is a whole lot of face makeup and a ridiculous amount of third-act carnage enough to top the original?

Second half we discuss Kingsman: The Secret Service,  The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and take a brand new batch of crazy listener emails and suggestions. Enjoy!

BMFcast261 – Hambone

Forget it Duke, it's Bucktown.

Bucktown (1975) the next movie for Blaxploitation History Month. Fred Williamson returns home to bury his brother and ends up finding a crooked cop ring of extortion in this small town of debauchery.

Second half we discuss 300: Rise of an Empire, Road House, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and more. Enjoy!

BMFcast260 – Death Sex Strumpet

Dolemite (1975) officially begins Blaxploitation History Month 2015! We finally experience Rudy Ray Moore’s iconic character, but can we dig it? Or are we no-business, born-insecure, junkyard mother… You know the rest.

Second half we talk TV on the big screen with some Game of Thrones IMAX, before re-visiting Arnold’s mid-90s CG classic Eraser. After that we attempt to wring a few laughs out of Bridesmaids before once again delving into listener emails. Can you dig it? Yeah, we can dig it. Enjoy!

BMFcast215 – LION MAN

Black Samson (1974) is our fifth and final movie for Blaxploitation History Month of 2014. We end, as so many sagas do, with the story of a man, his pet lion and a giant stick taking on the corrupt land hungry mafia.

Second half we discuss Machete Kills, The Usual Suspects and plenty of other random movies. Plus we pay tribute to the career of Harold Ramis. Enjoy!

BMFcast214 – Doodlebug and Pickle

Cleopatra Jones (1973) is week 4’s Blaxpoitation History Month movie. Random things unfold and a plot just kind of happens but at least we get one of the best car chases we’ve seen somewhere in the middle. Plus the most likeable criminal crew you could find.

Second half we discuss the Robocops, both 1987 and 2014, In Bruges and catch up a little on TV talk. Enjoy!

BMFcast213 – Broken Glass and Balls

Black Belt Jones (1974) is our third movie for Blaxploitation History Month. Jim Kelly is back and kicking many dudes and throwing them through many windows.

Second half we blitz through some movies including Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Ender’s Game, Black Dynamite and plenty more.

BMFcast212 – Ensign Stargrove

Sheba, Baby (1975) is our second movie for Blaxploitation History Month. Pam Grier is Sheba Shayne who decides to avenge her father and take on the mob single handed. Problem is the plot has her talk the talk but forgets to have her walk the walk.

Second half we revisit a few random movies, take listener correspondence and take a moment to reflect on the loss of Philip Seymour Hoffman.
