BMFcast554 – The Cannonball Run – Cannonball Your Brains Out

The Cannonball Run (1981) is a collection of gags performed by an all-star cast in a movie that’s ostensibly about a car race but it actually just a collection of gags performed by an all-star cast. But, I mean, if you see that there’s a movie starring Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore and Jackie Chan you’re going to watch it no matter what. We did.

BMFcast551 – Righting Wrongs – Power of Attorney

Righting Wrongs (1986) is also known as Above the Law in the states and if you’ve seen this before you might have seen it with a vastly different ending. We watched the original Hong Kong version and well… it is DARK. Yuen Biao is a prosecutor frustrated with the system so he starts whipping ass around town. Cynthia Rothrock is the cop who thinks he should play by the rules. The action is nuts, everything else not so much.

BMFcast550 – An Eye for an Eye – Better Get Mako

An Eye for an Eye (1981) stars Chuck Norris as a loose cannon ex-San Francisco cop hunting down the killers of his friends. A solid supporting cast including Christopher Lee, Mako and Richard Roundtree either help or get in his way. People get kicked in the face.

BMFcast543 – New York Ninja – Nintendons

New York Ninja (1984/2021) managed to break our collective brains. Sure there’s plenty of talk about this incomplete, unreleased 80s film resurrected by Vinegar Syndrome, but it leads to questions about the nature of art and then the nature of reality. Is this movie real? Is anything real? Who are you people? What’s happening?

BMFcast541 – Extreme Prejudice – The Hoonin’ Yeeters

Extreme Prejudice (1987) is a film that’s been requested nearly a dozen times over the years. It stars Nick Nolte, Powers Boothe, Michael Ironside and a dozen “that guys” who’re sweatin’ it up in a Texas border town either doing or stopping crimes. Eventually all their paths cross. Speaking of borders, it’s a borderline good movie!

Before wrapping up we have the briefest spoiler-free chat about Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Enjoy!

BMFcast540 – Duel to the Death – Animadjacency

Duel to the Death (1983) was sent to us by a passionate listener who REALLY wanted us to watch it, so we did! It’s an over the top kung fu swordplay ninja movie with insane stunts, crazy violence and an annoying soundtrack. What’s not to love?

BMFcast539 – DeepStar Six – Braless Row and Naked Showers

DeepStar Six (1989) helped kick off that year’s underwater monster movie craze that didn’t produce a lot of good results. It’s an Alien ripoff that spends a lot of time not doing anything and then suddenly has too many things to do. Will those things be enough to award it some Jox?

BMFcast536 – The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter – Snake Sock

The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter (1984) is considered to be not just one of the best Shaw Brothers movies, but one of the best overall martial arts movies of all time. We were very confused about the plot but we do know that all the fighting RULES and the last 20 minutes in particular will rock your gosh darn snake socks off.

Editor’s Note: In this episode we will absolutely butcher names, proper nouns, places, events, phrases, minerals, traditions, religion and so on. We don’t mean to do this. It’s not done for laughs. We’re just dumb and talking too fast. We will strive to do better. We do know a lot about Soul Calibur though.

BMFcast Extra 193 – Pumpkinhead

Pumpkinhead (1988) is a cult VHS favorite directed by Stan Winston. It features a rad movie monster and is barely a movie. Come enjoy two people discovering (and rediscovering) its joys for the very first time.

BMFcast Extra 192 – Kickboxer

Kickboxer (1989) is Jean-Claude Van Damme’s… okay look, you all know what Kickboxer is. We watched it.
