Stuart Gordon = Win

Re-Animator (1985) for the win, in this, the final week of Halloween Horror Month. We finish up the best way we know how with some Stuart Gordon. Sure, the closest this movie ever got to an Oscar was being mentioned in American Beauty but this is one for the ages.

Then we talk Red and older horror movies including a trifecta of Wes Craven. And finally we find out just how much Maki hates Boondock Saints when really we just wanted to hate on the terrible sequel.

BMFcast58 – Nuthugger

Nazi Zombies. Need we say more?

This episode we watch Shock Waves (1977). Nazi Zombies who were created to survive underwater have come back to wreak havoc on shipwrecked survivors. Oh and one guy totally FREAKS OUT.

Then we have a few calls on the Garfield Phone Hotline. Plus BJ sees movies while Maki and Harlo don’t. Apparently it was opposite week.

BMFcast57 – The Ensign Award

If I only had a brain.

This episode continues our month-o-horror with Scarecrows (1988). Hear us out on this one, the plot alone sold us on having to watch this one. We promise we’ll watch something next time not from the 1986-1992 range. Can’t help it if it’s the golden age of movies!

Then, in the second half, we discuss Let Me In (yes someone actually saw it) and Freakonomics.

BMFcast56 – Boob Mold

Get your exorcise.

This episode we continue our accidental plan to horror up the month of October with Night of the Demons (1988). It may be generic. It may be full of stereotypes. It may be fun.

Then it’s on to our review of The Social Network and four voicemails from the Garfield phone hotline.

BMFcast54 – Decompression

Get The Bends.

This episode we watch Leviathan (1989) with Peter Weller. It’s from BMFcast alum George P. Cosmatos. Yeah it’s Alien underwater. Yeah that’s The Thing. OK, no more puns.

Then we talk Machete! Huzzah! And The American. Huzzah? Hey, it’s slow but it’s good.

BMFcast53 – Rubbish

The horror. The horror.

This episode we watch the children’s horror movie classic The Garbage Pail Kids Movie (1987). Oh wait, it wasn’t supposed to be a horror movie? It was supposed to be inspirational and uplifting with a positive message about how it’s alright to be different? Oh and it’s also about fashion. Right.

Then we talk Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, BJ finally seeing Up and welcome Dragon*Con visitors. Also, Firefly is the best damn show in the ‘verse.  Just don’t tell Maki.

BMFcast50 – Action Explosion

Oh yeah, brother! Double Feature!

This episode we celebrate the big 5-0 in style with a double feature of epic proportions! First it’s No Holds Barred (1989) followed by Over the Top (1987). Wrestling and arm wrestling. That’s how you do it, folks.

Then after all that we calm down and talk bad movie marketing for our topic. What gets under our skin when it comes to convincing people to see a movie.

BMFcast49 – Thor

I wish this cover was how the movie was.

This episode we watch Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare (1987) a religious, rock, porn movie made in seven days for $100k. For once, we seriously can’t recommend this movie for viewing. If you want to see the WTF moment of the movie and save 80 or so minutes of your life, just click here.

Then in the second, action packed, half we talk reviews of Inception and Toy Story 3. Then it’s on to a topic of best performances by an actor in an otherwise terrible movie.

BMFcast47 – Inclined Horticulture

This revolution shouldn't have been televised.

This episode we get a full dose of Girl Power as we watch Spice World (1997) because we’re obviously the target demographic on that one.

Then we talk 2012 and Shutter Island (the movie they made from that trailer) which leads us into our topic of dream projects we wished were directed by someone else.

Transmorph and do very little.

This episode we finally get around to watching Transmorphers (2007) and are joined by special guest Luis. If you’re going to make a ripoff movie you may as well rip off every sci fi movie.

Then we talk movies that had you until a certain point. Usually the end but a clear point where the movie fell apart.
