BMFcast Extra 136 – The Great White Hype

The Great White Hype (1996) doesn’t have a huge cultural footprint, but it deserves some respect now as a 90s comedy that isn’t utterly painful. Samuel L. Jackson plays a Don King-esque boxing promoter who creates a white contender (Peter Berg) to take on the champ (Damon Wayans) in order to increase ticket sales. Hijinks ensue.

BMFcast Extra 135 – The Substitute

The Substitute (1996) seems like another “How do I reach these kids?” movie, but it’s absolutely not. Tom Berenger is a mercenary who becomes a sub at his girlfriend’s school to find out who attacked her. Soon he uncovers a massive drug dealing operation and has to take care of business.

BMFcast Extra 134 – Universal Soldier The Return

Universal Soldier The Return (1999) is really Universal Solider IV except this movie wants you to treat it like Universal Soldier II. Luc Deveraux is back, this time completely stripped of his Universal Soldier powers to battle the likes of Michael Jai White and Bill Goldberg. It’s a mess… and a delight.

BMFcast494 – The Minion – Ma’am This is a Wendigo’s

The Minion (1998) is End of Days a year before End of Days came out. Dolph Lundgren is a Templar who must stop Satan from getting the key to the bottomless pit and such. It’s very dull and makes End of Days look great.

The second half is another opinion explosion as we continue to cram for the Golden Jox awards. After more thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker (and Star Wars in general), we talk Dark Phoenix, 6 Underground, Shaft (2019), The Laundromat, Rim of the World, See You Yesterday, various Christmas movies, The Kid Who Would Be King, Crawl, Zombieland: Double Tap, and It: Chapters One and Two. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 133 – The Foreigner

The Foreigner (2017) is a story about the IRA. In 2017. Jackie Chan’s daughter is murdered in an IRA bombing (in 2017) and he harasses Irish political man Pierce Brosnan for the names of the bombers so he can Jackie Chan them to death. Dark, somber, not at all like something we usually watch… but is it worth it despite all that? Tune in.

BMFcast493 – Riot – Major Stunts

Riot (1996) takes place on Christmas Eve, during a riot in Los Angeles. The British ambassador’s daughter has been kidnapped and only Gary Daniels and Sugar Ray Leonard can save her. It’s Escape From New York meets The Warriors meets STUNTS!

BMFcast492 – Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2 – Naughty This

Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2 (1987) starts with 45 MINUTES OF FLASHBACKS to the first film. That’s not a joke. Then the short film sequel begins as the killer’s brother is now the killer and also a horrible actor. Drink every time he wiggles his eyebrows and chug every time he says “Naughty!”.

The second half is a movie opinion-a-palooza as we’ve got a lot of catching up to do. So join us for our thoughts on the following: Knives Out, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (contains mild spoilers), Ad Astra, X-Men Dark Phoenix, Hobbs & Shaw, Angel Has Fallen, Detective Pikachu, The Kid Who Would Be King, Dumbo, Long Shot, The Irishman, Anna and the Apocalypse, Replicas and finally a surprise film you’ll all want to know about.

And there’s still more! Enjoy chat about the new Netflix series The Movies That Made Us, and then finally we take an email about new television purchasing. Enjoy!
