BMFcast 571 – I’m Gonna Git You Sucka – Blaxploitation-ploitation

I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988) is Keenen Ivory Wayans’ ode to blaxploitation, and a fitting way to end this year’s Blaxploitation History Month. It’s packed with jokes, as well as BMFcast alums, with Jim Brown, Bernie Casey, Isaac Hayes and even Steve James making appearances. Do the jokes hit as hard as our favorite heroes? Only one way to find out if we’ve found gold or OG’d on chains.

BMFcast 569 – The Slams – The Original Gilgamesh

The Slams (1973) continues Blaxploitation History Month with the return of a BMFcast favorite, Jim Brown! This time he’s thrown in the slammer after a heist gone wrong. He’s the only one who knows where the money’s hidden, and everyone else wants a piece of it. He’ll have to dodge gangs, mobsters, and crooked guards to come out on top. We’d ask if he’ll succeed, but c’mon, it’s Jim Brown!

BMFcast Extra 121 – The Running Man

The Running Man (1987) is a lesser yet still important entry in Arnold’s early filmography. It takes place in 2019 and features a dystopian society fed by state-run media, and the number one show is a gameshow where convicts get murdered to death. Also, it’s got jokes. Hopefully so do we.

BMFcast445 – Original Gangstas – Turn Your Head And Coffy

Original Gangstas (1996) is how we’re celebrating Blaxploitation Friday this year! This 20 year old film is a supposedly a celebration of a genre from 20 years earlier but is more in line with the 90s gangs genre instead of the Blaxploitation stuff we know and love. But all your favorites are here (although some only for a scene or two) and there’s something to be said for that.

In the second half, Chuck has a recommendation-palooza and he says you should watch the following 2018 releases: Acts of Violence, Bent, Anon, Skyscraper, The Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. All good! All Chuck approved!

BMFcast Extra 058 – 100 Rifles

100 Rifles (1969) stars Jim Brown, Raquel Welch and Burt Reynolds fighting the evil Fernando Lamas in the old west. Features a Jerry Goldsmith score and stunts galore!

BMFcast211 – Gunn in a B.A.G.

Black Gunn (1972) is how we kick off the third annual Blaxploitation History Month. It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year and so we start where our hearts tells us, with Jim Brown.

Second half we quickly run through some movies including Rewind This (2013) and get right to listener correspondence. Enjoy!
