BMFcast426 – The Soldier – Klaus Can’t Ski

The Soldier (1982) is the movie we saw clips of during our viewing of Shakedown. As it turns out, clips are the best way to enjoy The Solider, because most of it is boring as hell. However, it does feature the 10th appearance of Steve James on the show, and that’s always a good thing.

In the second half we’ve got Maki checking out Oceans 8 (2018) and Harlo giving I, Tonya (2017) a whirl. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 078 – The Perils of Gwendoline

The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak (1984) is Tawny Kitaen’s film debut and it’s a baffling motion picture based on a bondage comic strip from an adult magazine of the 40s and 50s. The last 3rd of the film in particular is a WTF-a-palooza. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 076 – Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold

Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold (1986) is Cannon’s immediate follow up to King Solomon’s Mines and this time we’re pretty much in agreement on how things turned out. James Earl Jones is along for the ride this time, which COULD have been a good thing…

BMFcast Extra 075 – Tarzan and Jane and the Lost City

It’s our diamond anniversary (just go with it) and we’re celebrating with a double feature of 1987’s Jane and the Lost City and 1998’s Tarzan and the Lost City. Both feature groups of folks seeking a lost city of treasures somewhere in Africa with varying results.

BMFcast Extra 074 – Remo Williams The Adventure Begins

Remo Williams The Adventure Begins (1985) is our next fictional pulp movie. It stars Fred Ward as a hero no one likes and Joel Grey as a Korean man. Kate Mulgrew stars as “the female of the movie”. Great stunts, but it’s a mess!

BMFcast420 – Vanity’s Hot DIVX

The Last Dragon (1985) is why we do this podcast. It’s the tale of a young man from Harlem who gets mixed up with an insane record producer, an equally insane kung fu master, and Vanity. Hijinks ensue, in the best possible way.

After an exhaustive first half, Maki has some quick takes on Ready Player One (2018) and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them (2016) and then Chuck plows through The Post (2017), Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and I, Tonya (2017). Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 073 – King Solomon’s Mines

King Solomon’s Mines (1985) is Cannon’s take on the Indiana Jones films, and by that we mean it’s them ripping off the Indiana Jones films, despite the source material predating Indy by decades. Richard Chamberlain and Sharon Stone search for the titular mines, fighting proto-nazis and cannibals along the way.

BMFcast Extra 072 – Biggles Adventures in Time

Biggles: Adventures in Time (1986) is a movie about a beloved British hero with an American time travel story bolted onto it. At least the aerial sequences are stunning. Also, Hootkins!

BMFcast Extra 071 – The Island

The Island (1980) is a Peter Benchley/Michael Caine joint that no one ever talks about. They should talk about it though, because it has the Most Satisfying Ending of All Timeā„¢.

BMFcast417 – BMX Bandits – Stunt Roll

BMX Bandits (1983) brings Nicole Kidman her BMFcast debut and returns one of our favorite directors, Brian Trenchard-Smith. Three teens who love BMX’ing get caught up in shenanigans when they steal some police radios intended to be used in a bank heist. Chase scenes ensue. A lot of extended chase scenes.

After the break Harlo and Chuck return from the theater to discuss Pacific Rim Uprising (2018) and, of course, Pacific Rim (2013). Harlo enjoys The Greatest Showman (2017) and Game Over, Man (2018) before Chuck gets into some TV with Netflix’s Jessica Jones Season 2 and The Toys That Made Us. As if that wasn’t enough, we catch up on listener correspondence and are even presented with a movie mystery to solve!
