BMFcast408 – Supervan – Portvanteau

Supervan (1977) continues #Vanuary. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a goofy-looking solar-powered van and a lot of van footage from the Biannual Bicentennial Freakout ’76 Festival. Can whipped cream, lasers, and a whole lot of vannin’ earn it Jox?

After the break Maki hits the theater for The Shape of Water (2017) which leads to some general chat about the films of Guillermo del Toro. Harlo catches us up on his Golden Jox catch-up movies with XXX: The Return of Xander Cage (2017), Shyamalan’s Split (2017),  Sophia Coppola’s The Beguiled (2017), The Great Wall (2017), which we discover was directed by the man who made the awesome House of Flying Daggers (2004), and lastly Chuck and Harlo discuss the disappointing Geostorm (2017).

BMFcast407 – The Van – Van Stuff

The Van (1977) seemed like the proper way to start #Vanuary! Bobby is a sleazy high school graduate who spends his college tuition on a sweet, sweet van. Will it get him the ladies he desperately seeks? Or will it end up with him getting his ass kicked by local bully Dugan?

In the second half it’s the Golden Jox awards for 2017! We reward our favorite movies of 2017 with the coveted award and unanimously pick a movie as our favorite of the year!

BMFcast Extra 056 – Fuzz

Fuzz (1972) is a hard one to talk about, so we go off on tangents like “Why is Burt Reynolds famous?” and “Yul Brynner’s voice: What’s up with that?”

BMFcast401 – Captain America II: Death Too Soon – Nickelblowdeon

Captain America II: Death Too Soon (1979) is the sequel to the Reb Brown Captain America TV movie. This time he’s taking on Christopher Lee and his aging serum, along with a small town full of toughs. Can Cap overcome rude locals and save the day?

After the break Harlo checks in on some overlooked summer movies in The House (2017) and The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017), BJ isn’t crazy about Donnie Yen’s Kung Fu Killer (2014), Maki loves Nathan For You: Finding Frances (2017) and we all still love Baby Driver (2017).

BMFcast Extra 052 – Convoy

*truck horn* Hey there good buddy what’s your twenty we’ve got ourselves a long-ass truckin’ movie here based on a novelty song featuring some stunts and whatnot, come back. *truck horn*

BMFcast Extra 050 – Meteor

50 episodes? Wow! We celebrate by watching 1979’s Meteor, for no real reason except that it’s too long for BMFcast Prime. Can Sean Connery and Natalie Wood stop a massive meteor from destroying the Earth? Will they play those pinball machines?!

BMFcast395 – The Car – Katacari Diemacy

The Car (1977) is the first movie for this month’s October celebration. Can James Brolin’s mustache protect his sleepy Utah town from a demonic car that’s determined to kill everyone?

Second half has Harlo diagnosing The Big Sick (2017), Chuck recommending the TV series Mr. Mercedes, and BJ attempting to buy cable channels a la carte. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 034 – Poison Ivy and Piranha

Week 4 of BMFcamp delivers Michael J. Fox and Nancy McKeon in 1985’s POISON IVY, and then the 1978 classic PIRANHA. One is fantastic, the other is not.

BMFcast Extra 031 – Meatballs & Camp Nowhere

Welcome to BMFcamp! This is an intense 8-week training camp where you’ll hear all about the best and worst of the summer camp genre. First up, 1979’s MEATBALLS starring Bill Murray and 1994’s CAMP NOWHERE with Christopher Lloyd.

BMFcast Extra 030 – Master of the Flying Guillotine

It’s our martial arts season finale as we finally get to the movie we’ve mentioned several times during this theme, 1976’s MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE. It’s a sequel to ONE ARMED BOXER and has some serious issues. Enjoy!
