Mercenary (1997) stars action superstar Olivier Gruner and John Ritter (!) in a bizarre revenge tale cobbled together from other, better action films. But if you’re a fan of dudes getting launched into the air after an explosion, or pointless subplots about shoes… this might be the movie for you!

Disturbia (2007) was chosen because we’ve become big fans of writer-director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) of late. He co-wrote this teenage Rear Window that is very indicative of the time in which it was released.

Guns Akimbo (2020) is a divisive motion picture about an underground fight/murder club, social media, sick needle drops and offers of crack cocaine. It stars Daniel Radcliffe who displays some remarkable comedic timing playing a man with guns bolted to his hands, for reasons.

Skyfire (2019) is a Chinese-made disaster movie. Combining all the dumbest parts of Jurassic World (really dangerous idea for a resort) and Dante’s Peak (a volcano wrecks everyone’s day.) Also, it’s directed by Simon West, who brought us Con Air. Can all the dumbest parts add up to an awesome Jox-worthy whole? Or will we melt down and toss it some bags?
Alligator (1980) is the tale of a baby gator flushed down the toilet who grows up eating genetically modified dogs from a nearby evil lab. Now detective Robert Forster has to figure out how to stop it once it goes on an oversized alligator rampage. Trust us, there’s a LOT more going on in this fun monster movie. But will it deliver the Jox?
Double Trouble (1992) brings us one step closer to completing the filmography of the Barbarian Bros. This time one’s a cop, one’s a cat burglar. They’re forced to be partners on opposite sides of the law when they both get tangled up in a high-stakes diamond heist. With a preppie FBI handler and plenty of C-list supporting actors along for the ride, will their wacky hijinks be enough to steal a Jox rating?
Tai-Chi Master (1993) returns Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh to the show, with Jet Li and Siu-Ho Chin along for the ride. Directed by the legendary Woo-Ping Yuen, it’s a wire-fu tale of two young monks who get kicked out of their monastery for being too good at kung fu. They eventually end up on opposing sides of a revolution. The story isn’t the point, though. It’s all about the amazing fight scenes. And we can tell you that these scenes deliver. Is it enough to get the coveted 5-jox award?
Warlock (1989) is one of those movies we’d always seen on the shelf at the video store, but can’t remember if we’d ever seen it. Julian Sands is the titular warlock, who escapes the 1600s to modern-day 1988. Richard E. Grant chases him through time, and recruits the help of an age-cursed Lori Singer. Does this one live up to its lauded VHS reputation?
