BMFcast451 – Judgment Day – Dick Cardigan

Judgment Day (1999) is our latest and there’s much to discuss. No, it’s not a follow up to Judgment Night, but still That’s The Joke™. It’s actually a Deep Impact/Armageddon rip off written by Fred Olen Ray, directed by the guy who played Deathstalker in Deathstalker II, and features a cavalcade of BMFcast alums including Ice-T, Coolio, Zeus from No Holds Barred and Mario Van Peebles. Oh yeah, that means it’s a #Vanuary movie too.

In the second half we run through some movies we watched for Golden Jox consideration that didn’t quite make the final cut, including Mandy, Halloween, Equalizer 2, Hotel Artemis, Bad Times at the El Royale, Kin, Roma and more. Plus, Harlo is in love with Riverdale on the CW. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 057 – Mean Guns

Mean Guns (1997)… You’d think an Ice-T / Christopher Lambert action movie would be right up our alley, but there’s a wild card involved here — director Albert Pyun. *sigh* Listen for our explanation as to why we’ve now added his named to our list of banned keywords for acceptable BMFcast movies.

BMFcast394 – Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo – Gazpacho and the Squid

Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo (1984) has finally made its way to the show, and it’s director Sam Firstenberg’s 10th film to get the BMFcast treatment. Most importantly though, IT’S A SAVE THE REC CENTER MOVIE. Turbo, Ozone and Special K return to SAVE THE REC CENTER.

In the second half, Chuck and Harlo discuss Star Trek Discovery, and then Harlo joins the 4K revolution. Enjoy!

BMFcast382 – Trespass – Ice-Trustworthy

Trespass (1992) welcomes back decorated alums Walter Hill, Ice-T, Ice Cube, Bill Paxton and more in the story of two firefighters searching an abandoned building for gold when they accidentally stumble into a drug deal gone wrong. Things only get worse from there.

After the break BJ and Harlo love Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver (2017), Maki almost loves Wonder Woman (2017), Chuck kinda loves Anchorman 2’s R-Rated cut (2013), and the Maki’s magical journey continues with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). Enjoy!

BMFcast367 – Ricochet – Clown Life

Ricochet (1991) welcomes Denzel Washington to the show! He’s a cop/D.A. who is pursued by a pathologically obsessed John Lithgow in an utterly baffling ’90s thriller. Ice-T is a gang leader who might help Denzel and Jesse Ventura appears to make this a March To Wrestlemania tie-in, of course.

In the second half Harlo & Maki discuss Get Out (2017) and Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) while BJ gives his thoughts on I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore (2017). Enjoy!

BMFcast354 – Johnny Mnemonic – Dolph’n Friends

Johnny Mnemonic (1995) marks Keanu Reeves’ official first-half debut, and he’s joined by a bevy of BMFcast alums including Ice-T, Udo Kier, Henry Rollins, and Dolph Lundgren. Keanu is a future courier, trading corporate secrets in his brain. Every one wants what he’s got, or wants him dead. If’s a wonderland of mid-’90s cyber-whatever. This is a fun one.

After the break, we discuss HBO’s Westworld (2016) and get into spoiler speculation in weekly reviews before Maki gets all indie in his year-end catch-up, talking about The Fits, Green Room and The Witch (or The VVitch, if you are so inclined.) Enjoy!
