BMFcast382 – Trespass – Ice-Trustworthy

Trespass (1992) welcomes back decorated alums Walter Hill, Ice-T, Ice Cube, Bill Paxton and more in the story of two firefighters searching an abandoned building for gold when they accidentally stumble into a drug deal gone wrong. Things only get worse from there.

After the break BJ and Harlo love Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver (2017), Maki almost loves Wonder Woman (2017), Chuck kinda loves Anchorman 2’s R-Rated cut (2013), and the Maki’s magical journey continues with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 033 – Meatballs Part II and Fired Up

Week 3 of BMFcamp returns us to the Meatballs Cinematic Universe with the otherwise unrelated MEATBALLS PART II and then we launch in to the future for 2009’s FIRED UP. Good times are had by all.

BMFcast381 – College Kickboxers – The Chipparoo

College Kickboxers (1991) has our intrepid hero, college freshman James, testing his martial arts skills against his roommate Mark, his Sifu Wing, and a gang of supremely racist dudes named the White Tigers. Will our good guys win and save the dojo (aka rec center?) What do you think?

After the break Maki continues his magical journey with Alfonso Cuaron’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) and a listener e-mail about Beauty and the Beast (2017) sparks discussion of remakes and risk aversion in modern Hollywood. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 032 – Ernest Goes to Camp and Summer Camp Nightmare

Week 2 of BMFcamp features a double feature from 1987! First up is Ernest’s first major motion picture ERNEST GOES TO CAMP. After that is the little seen, who knows what genre this thing is supposed to be flick SUMMER CAMP NIGHTMARE starring Chuck Connors. Enjoy!

BMFcast380 – Cherry 2000 – Butte Nuke

Cherry 2000 (1987) is the tale of a man and his sex robot. When Sam Treadwell’s (David Andrews) robo-wife short-circuits, he starts on a journey into the wastelands to find a new one. Helping him is an unlikely tracker (Melanie Griffith), but they have to avoid the angry Murder Dad cult led by Lester (Tim Thomerson). Yes, this movie is as odd as it sounds.

After the break Harlo gets Linklater’d as he compares Everybody Wants Some!! (2016) and Boyhood (2014), while Maki continues his magical journey with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002). Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 031 – Meatballs & Camp Nowhere

Welcome to BMFcamp! This is an intense 8-week training camp where you’ll hear all about the best and worst of the summer camp genre. First up, 1979’s MEATBALLS starring Bill Murray and 1994’s CAMP NOWHERE with Christopher Lloyd.

BMFcast379 – Monster Trucks – Octopus Prime

Monster Trucks (2017) is the tale of a (30-year-old) teen and his truck, and also Creech, his inner-earth octopus monster thing unleashed by drilling who decides to live in the truck and have adventures. This Nickelodeon Studios financial flop sports a very recognizable cast and some pretty good special effects and jokes. Does it charm us into Jox?

Second half we get Harlo’s take on Wonder Woman (2017), Maki finally sees Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 (2017) and revisits the Harry Potter series with the first entry, Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone (2001). Plus, we receive a very special physical mail package. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 030 – Master of the Flying Guillotine

It’s our martial arts season finale as we finally get to the movie we’ve mentioned several times during this theme, 1976’s MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE. It’s a sequel to ONE ARMED BOXER and has some serious issues. Enjoy!

BMFcast378 – Streets of Fire – The Whoopi Rotation

Streets of Fire (1984) welcomes director Walter Hill to the hall of BMFcast alums. Michael Paré is a mercenary hired by Rick Moranis to track down his rock singer girlfriend, Diane Lane, who’s been kidnapped by Willem Dafoe. This “Rock & Roll Fable” has style for days, but is the substance enough to push it into Jox territory?

After the break we talk about The Lego Batman Movie (2017) before discussing Fist Fight (2017) and its similarities to Three O’Clock High (1987). We take some voicemails, e-mails and even an MP3-mail, too! Enjoy!
