Month: December 2016

BMFcast356 – Mankillers – Richard Stab

Mankillers (1987) brings director David A. Prior back to the show, as he tells us the story of an all-girl squad of inmates-turned-mercenaries out to take down a drug agent gone rogue in Columbia. (Or Columbia, South Carolina – we’re not sure.) Will this combination of Hell Squad and Deadly Prey work for us?

In the second half we briefly revisit Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and the series in general before Maki reviews Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond (2016), Harlo’s pinball journey continues with Barb Wire (1996) and we close out the show (and the year) with some heartwarming e-mails. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 013 – Amityville A New Generation

The 7th entry in the never-connected Amityville universe features a spooky mirror, artists living in a loft, and the combined talents of Richard Roundtree, David Naughton and Terry O’Quinn. From the director of COP DOG! Enjoy.

BMFcast355 – Goldberg, Frankly Incensed, and Murder

Santa’s Slay (2005) is our holiday episode this year, and what a ride. A slay ride, if you will. Bill Goldberg plays a pissed off demon Santa looking to cause mayhem and go to strip clubs.

Second half is jam packed with Chuck’s Christmas marathon of Die Hard 2, Gremlins and Love Actually, Harlo attempts to revisit Space Jam, the second X-Men trilogy is discussed, and then some other movie what was it oh yeah Rogue One: A Star Wars Story makes a spoiler-free appearance. Enjoy!

BMFcast354 – Johnny Mnemonic – Dolph’n Friends

Johnny Mnemonic (1995) marks Keanu Reeves’ official first-half debut, and he’s joined by a bevy of BMFcast alums including Ice-T, Udo Kier, Henry Rollins, and Dolph Lundgren. Keanu is a future courier, trading corporate secrets in his brain. Every one wants what he’s got, or wants him dead. If’s a wonderland of mid-’90s cyber-whatever. This is a fun one.

After the break, we discuss HBO’s Westworld (2016) and get into spoiler speculation in weekly reviews before Maki gets all indie in his year-end catch-up, talking about The Fits, Green Room and The Witch (or The VVitch, if you are so inclined.) Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 012 – Amityville It’s About Time

Back on track after the abysmal 4th and 5th entries in the Amityville franchise. This time, a spooky clock infects a house with spooky time, and there are spooky dogs, spooky sex and spooky Dick Miller. Enjoy!

BMFcast353 – The Return of Captain Invincible – Raiders of the Lost Arkin

The Return of Captain Invincible (1983) is our return to musicals and boy, this one sure is a thing. It has Alan Arkin, Christopher Lee, songs by Richard O’Brien and a whole slew of head-scratching moments.

In the second half we talk Star Trek Beyond, Independence Day 2, The Flintstones and listen to your voicemails. Enjoy!

BMFcast Extra 011 – Amityville 4 and 5

the-amityville-horror-house

More like Amityville Snore, am I right? Yep, I am. Because Amityville: The Evil Escapes (1989) and The Amityville Curse (1990) will cure your insomnia wicked quick. Luckily our discussion is fun, so come enjoy our misery.

BMFcast352 – The Lost Empire – Laservoir Tip

The Lost Empire (1985) is the debut movie of Jim Wynorski. A team of martial arts knowin’ women enter an underground tournament on a secret island in order to locate a jewel that will be used to power a doomsday device. Or something? We expected lots of jokes and nudity, which we got. Was it enough?

Second half is a random grab bag of movies with The Accountant (2016), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1994). Harlo also discusses the documentary Lucha Mexico (2016) before we take some listener e-mails. Enjoy!
