BMFcast305 – In For A Penny, In For A Pound

timebarbarians copy

Time Barbarians (1990) is how we’ve decided to wrap up our 1990 theme year. Distributed by Troma, this sword and scorcery (yep) epic features big muscle bro eventually heading to present day Los Angeles to track down the evil dude who killed his beloved wife. Also, his beloved wife is also in L.A.! Well, kind of.

The second half is crammed full of movies, including hot takes on The Polar Express, Fletch, Pixels, Sicario, The Martian and more. Plus, your voicemails and emails. Happy New Year, everyone!

Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation (1990) helps us celebrate the grand tradition of Christmas with body horror, witchcraft, Clint Howard and other general unpleasantness. Does it get us in the spirit? (Spoiler: Look at the episode title.)

After the break we talk a couple huge releases, What We Do In The Shadows and Ant-Man! Oh yeah, and a sequel in a pretty well known series, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Have you heard of it? We give our thoughts, both spoiler-free and spoiler HEAVY. If you’re one of the 8 people that hasn’t seen it yet, you have been warned. Enjoy!

BMFcast303 – Don’t Get Hit With a Bat In The Groin

Martial Law (1990) is both the name of the movie and the name of the man. In real life the man is named Chad McQueen, and he has some skills. There’s also Cynthia Rothrock as Martial Law’s girlfriend, and she deserves better. Still, she kicks asses (and groins) as they both battle David Carradine.

Second half has Chuck taking one for the team and watching Netflix’s The Ridiculous Six. Then it’s an email-a-palooza as everyone writes in hoping to win that sweet, sweet batch of free prizes. Stay tuned after the end theme for THE BEST CONVERSATION EVER™.

BMFcast302 – Racism Is Over?

Riverbend (1990) marks Steve James and director Sam Firstenberg’s continued legacy on the BMFcast. James has come to the small Georgia town of Riverbend to take on the most evil, racist character we have ever encountered on the show. Does his strange, uncomfortable plan work?

Second half we talk about Netflix’s A Very Murray Christmas, Chuck demands we watch season 2 of The Leftovers and our Correspondence Contest continues as we take a batch of listener mails. Enjoy!

BMFcast301 – Landau Bullet

Real Bullets (1990) begins Season 2 of the BMFcast by combining two of our favorite things: stunts and stuntmen! A team of stunt students accidentally stumbles into a ring of drug smugglers led by Martin Landau. Gunshots, dynamite, arrows to the gut, old prospectors, and of course, stunts, ensue.

After the break Maki ends his painful journey with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Harlo wonders why Fant4stic exists, and Chuck has a great time with San Andreas! We also take some listener correspondence and announce a brand new contest. It’s action packed, so enjoy!
