BMFcast164 – Where’s Brenda?

Black Shampoo (1976) gets the review for our third week of Blaxploitation History Month. This theme has taken some odd turns and so does this movie.

Second half we talk some random movies including Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Chronicle and Jeff Who Lives at Home. Plus plenty more including listener correspondence. Enjoy!

Although I love listening to all of you, I will say life is always a little sadder without a BJ.

PS if I just crossed a line I apologize, but I’m also fighting the follow up comment about enjoying a certain quality of lip service.

  2. Chris W says:

I have a special place in my heart for films like Black Shampoo and unlike you guys, it kind of saddens me that they don’t make them like this anymore: completely insane with nary a hint of self-consciousness. In its place we have grossly self-aware junk like Machete. There is something weirdly pure about the idiosyncratic nature of lurid exploitation fare like Black Shampoo.

That said, this was a first time listen and I really enjoyed it. Keep it up.
