BMFcast151 – Dino Might

The Eden Formula (2006) or as it also (and should only be) known as, Tyrannosaurus Wrecks, begins our Triple Rex 2: State of the Union trilogy. Jeff Fahey and Tony Todd chew through slightly more scenery than the awful dino puppet.

Second half we talk about The Man With the Iron Fists, The Campaign and a few other older random movies. Plus we take some listener emails. Enjoy!

For a movie that got a lot of bags, you guys had way too much fun talking about it.

I’ve never made it through Brazil. I think I’ve seen the first 20 minutes a dozen times or so. Its weird for me because I adore Gilliam’s work. Well, except Tideland. And I never saw Brothers Grimm. And you know what? I don’t remember a damn thing about the first 20 minutes except I think some dude has wings and at some point Wario shows up.

Beyond The Black Rainbow can be great. But in my opinion you cannot watch it if you want to watch a “movie”. This is the type of movie that is designed to harken back to 80s low-budget stuff, but wrapped in an art cover. It is a very competently made movie, beautifully shot and staged. But it’s basically a movie that should be watched high, or in my no-drugs case, with the mindset that you should be high.

The trailer for the movie says it all. If you aren’t entranced by it, skip the movie.
In my opinion, the BTBR trailer is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Granted, 80% of it is the sound and music, but they absolutely nail the feeling of despair and mystery.
