BMFcast138 – Tub Girls

By

Hell Squad (1986) is about a group of Las Vegas showgirls who become highly trained *cough* mercenaries hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an American ambassador. This, of course, means getting naked and sharing a bath tub. Also some killing and tigers.

Second half we continue Bond Marathon with The Spy Who Loved Me. Plus we talk God Bless America, The Raid: Redemption, Another Earth and more. Enjoy!

I won’t lie, I had to skip ahead to the second half, in order to hear the opinion of The Raid: Redemption and God Bless America, two films that I had rated as my top two of the year. No kidding. At least until last night…

I am glad I was able to see both on the big screen. Raid is tremendous due to all the action it has and how it was done, aside from those small shaky-cam moments. I was able to see that twice in a theater. GBA greatly amused me as it ranted and raved against most of the things that I like to rant and rave about. I also enjoyed Bobcat’s previous film, World’s Greatest Dad. What a dark film that is.

I ended up seeing a pair of BMFCast films as of late. I actually tracked down Pinball Summer. It’s terrible but as I knew about the Asstagonists, I was able to laugh at how stupid it was and how fundamentally screwed up it was. I also saw D.C. Cab and that is legit awesome.

Finally, I saw The Expendables 2 last night at its midnight debut… YES. That’s the best word to use. No matter what you thought of the first, the sequel completely blows it out of the water… in the first ten minutes! I mean, more than once there’s just as much greatness as what you get in Fast Five; I imagine Maki in the theater saying a few times, “I f’ing love this movie!” It’s a must-see, and it’s currently my film of the year.

+1 on the “World’s Greatest Dad” recommendation. I thought it was blackly funny, and really solid outing by Goldthwait, who has become a pretty accomplished director.

Thanks for the rundown on “The Raid: Redemption.” Since Indonesia is my next assignment, I might be able to write off the rental as a business expense…

Also agreed that “Expendables 2” was better than the first. It didn’t take itself as seriously this time around.

  3. Straight Out of Tijuana says:

The busty chick looked familiar, and a little research verified her name: Joyce Mandel, aka Alexis Love.

    Look her up.
