Much like the movie, this poster is confusing.

Much like the movie, this poster is confusing.

This week we smell what Richard Kelly is cooking and bravely sample the cuisine.  It’s the epic masterpiece of fail Southland Tales (2006).  Have we found a new contender for worst movie ever made?

We also alienate just about everyone as we discuss beloved movies we hate or just plain don’t have the love for.

I may despise the movie but I have to admit that I really like that poster. Not enough to put it on the wall of my shed or anything, but it’s a nicely composed piece.

I think there was something enjoyable about this movie. It was weird, long, pretentious, messy etc,. but somewhat enjoyable. Well, I watched it after I heard your podcast, so thank you! Nice PR, negative enough to motivate me! Btw, I love your podcasts, I found it recently and I’m catching up.

Thanks, Ogy! My feelings have cooled somewhat on this one in the 2+ years since seeing it. That could have something to do with MUCH worse movies we’ve seen since then… There are parts I remember, which is a good sign. I’m still kind of mad that you have to read all sorts of side fiction for any of it to make sense, though. It did remind me how awesome Jane’s Addiction’s Three Days is, so at least there’s that.
